Sheldon's Corners is a historic locale in the south of this township on U.S Highway 12 just west of Interstate 275, and if you look closely enough, it has something for everyone: antique stores; cafes that offer home-cooked meals made by local chefs.
The residents of Cherry Hill are proud to call it a historic locale. This new urbanist neighborhood has architecture that is supposed to be reminiscent of what Canton looked like one hundred years ago. It's located on the top floor overlooking Lower River Rouge, with plenty more views right outside your door. The Cherry Hill village theater is now open to the public, and it serves as a venue for community events.
Three school districts serve the Township of Canton: the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (which covers north 2/3rds), Wayne Westland Community School (which serves the southern portion), and Van Buren Public schools in the southwest corner.
Canton is a beautiful place to live, especially if you enjoy the outdoors. The south part lies drained by Lower River Rouge and its tributaries, including Pine Creek. The northeast drainage area flows through Garden Creek, which feeds into the Middle River Raisin'.
The history of Canton is one worth celebrating, and that's what you can find when exploring the town. The residents are always looking back at where they came from for guidance in shaping their community today - with all eyes set forward and guiding this growing city into future successes.
